Here's what's happening today on the small screen:

The time-travelling cop drama ‘Life on Mars,’ starring Jason O’Mara premieres tonight.

* If you enjoy Saturday Night Live's lampooning of the U.S. presidential race, you'll want to tune in to the SNL: Election Special. (Global, NBC)

* Speaking of SNL, one of its funniest former cast members - Molly Shannon - tonight kicks off her new comedy series, Kath & Kim, in which she plays the mother to Selma Blair. (NBC, E)

* The Office left fans pining for more after Jim's proposal in the rain last episode. It's unclear if tonight's instalment will touch on that storyline, though, as the synopsis only states that Jim coerces Dwight into abiding by the company's "time theft" policy. (Global, NBC)

* It sounds like a sci-fi program, but Life on Mars is actually a compelling time-travelling cop drama starring Jason O'Mara, Harvey Keitel and Michael Imperioli. Lisa Bonet guests in this debut of the series that's loosely based on the British series of the same name. (Global, ABC)

* Also debuting is Eleventh Hour, starring Rufus Sewell as a doctor who solves scientific crimes. (A, CBS)

* The disasters just keep on coming for the doctors of Grey's Anatomy. In this instalment, a plumbing leak soaks Seattle Grace as the chief cracks the whip with the team. (CTV, ABC)

* Also cracking the whip is Dr. Banfield (Angela Bassett) of ER, where Gates and the new interns operate on a terrorist. (CTV, NBC)

* The ninth season premiere of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation unveils the fate of Warrick, who was shot in a car in a Los Angeles alleyway in last season's cliffhanger. (CTV, CBS)
