Robert Mason Legge, 68, appeared in Fredericton’s Provincial Court last week.

According to court documents, the Lincoln man is accused of arson at Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital and assault with a weapon – fire – against hospital employee April Knowles on Dec. 12, 2023.

Legge has yet to enter a plea with the court, and was scheduled to do so on Wednesday.

However, Judge Brian McLean instead ordered the evaluation to determine and set the case over to May 16.

The accused is banned from communicating with Knowles, and he must not attend Knowles’s residence or place of employment.

However, the court documents note, Legge may attend Knowles’s workplace for “medical purposes.”
