Among the charges Tyler Depow, 33, of Fredericton, faces are fraud over $5,000 and six charges of “uttering counterfeit money” – an accusation he knowingly created, sold or used counterfeit currency.

In a news release announcing the arrest, Fredericton police said he was “arrested on fraud charges stemming from distributing counterfeit U.S. currency around the province.”

Depow is also charged with identity fraud, false pretense, breach of probation and six counts of possession of counterfeit money.

His 36-year-old co-accused, who police did not name, faces the counterfeit charges, but not the others. She was in court and was released on conditions, police said.

Depow remains in custody.

In the same news release, police said they also arrested a man with vehicle theft.

Ty Nichol, 26, of Fredericton, faces a slew of related charges, police said, including break and enter, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, dangerous operation of a conveyance and flight from police.

Police said he also remains in custody.
