RCMP say the elderly man and 46-year-old man were arrested March 27 following searches at two locations in Shippigan, the force said in a news release.

The searches were part of an illegal drug trafficking investigation that began in January 2023, police said.

Police said they seized drugs including what they believe to be crystal methamphetamine, cocaine and Percocet, prescription pills and drug trafficking paraphernalia, along with unsecured firearms, a crossbow, ammunition and a “large amount of money.”

The two men were arrested at the scene. The 83-year-old was later released and will appear in Bathurst provincial court Sept. 23 and the 46-year-old man will appear “at a later date,” according to the release

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
