In a media release, Saint John Police report officers were called to the 200-block of Leinster Street just after 6:30 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a man who had “forcefully gained access” to an apartment.

“The owner of the residence was not home at the time of the incident,” police stated.

Police responded and surrounded the location and the man was taken into custody without further incident.

“There were damages reported in relation to the apartment but, due to a quick response and apprehension of the suspect, there was nothing reported stolen,” police stated in the release.

The man was later released from custody on an undertaking with conditions including to appear in court in July.
